Dating back to the 19505, the Antoria brand was employed by UK importers LT. Coppock. located in Leeds, England. The earliest Antoria electrics were made in Japan by Guyatone, and Hank Marvin of British instrumental group The Shadows used just such a six-string in his early days By the 19705 the range had become copy-orientated and this continued throughout the following decade. Many Antorias were virtually identical to their lbanez equivalents. which isn’t really surprising as they emanated from the same Japanese sources. Production switched to the Korean Samick factory during the 19805. but most models maintained the copy approach. The brand subsequently disappeared when it was decided to market models under Samick's own name, but the Antoria name has recently been revived by a new British distributor.
